Problem with 7" Display and Pandaboard A4

Post by MrPec » Wed Jan 11, 2012 7:27 am

Hello,

we just tried to get the latest pandaboard v4 revision to work with the display. We downloaded the files from your ftp (Beada20111107) and followed the instructions within the readme.
We also soldered across the resistor pads (except 175) on the backside. We first made the mistake to also connect 175, but removed it.

Do we also have to remove resistors from the top side of the board? Or desolder c3, change r7/r8 or somthing similar on NBD01 ?

We face the following problem:
The board boot up just fine, both green leds are shining. The screen is black for some seconds, and then turns white and stays in that state.
We also tried to use the frame with the Pandaboard ES, with the same result.

Thank you for you help!

Alex

1. The beada frame works fine if screen can stay white for a while(PWM backlight working!)
2. I can not find any info. for Pandaboard A4 from pandaboard.org
PandaBoard REV A1 & A2*, A3**
* Rev A2 is the same as A1 except it has: the new LSR TiWi-R2 connectivity module populated (Rev A1 of PandaBoard contained the LSR TiWi-R1 module and the footprint of the module has changed in TiWi-R2 to improve manufacturability. See the footprint migration document for more details.)
** Rev A3 is the same as A2 except it has: OMAP4430 ES2.2 silicon version
http://pandaboard.org/content/resources/references
3. We did not have support for pandaboard ES yet, we will update you here as soon as we get a ES board.

http://omappedia.org/wiki/PandaBoard_Revisions

Here you can see that Rev A4 is the latest:

Latest production versions of PandaBoards will contain the below model number:

Model #: PandaBoard Rev A4 (This label will be printed on the back of the board)

Rev A4 is the same as A3 except it has:
OMAP4430 ES2.3 silicon

So, the screen still stays white forever. Please find the log attached.

It seems that there is a problem using the script to create the image. I face the same problem like the guy in the other thread.
I mean, i just downloaded the files, executed the script and I ended up with that sd card.

I have too look whats going on here, maybe it's a problem with VMware (I use it to boot to linux and mount/flash the sd card).

Best regards,

Ok guys, it's working now. I inserted the sd card again and manually extracted/copied the boot.scr file to the boot drive.
It also works with the ES version of pandaboard.
