Freezing System

Post by MrPec » Sat Jan 14, 2012 4:20 am

Hello,

after much trial and error I finally got the system to work. As I said in the other thread, I had to manually copy the boot.scr file after using the linaro tools. But unfortunately I face the next problem. The screen freezes after some seconds of inactivity.

The board itself works fine, I still can use the serial port, use wifi and ping etc. In the moment the screen freezes, there's a short flickering and dmesg says:

[ 135.162506] PM: Preparing system for mem sleep
[ 135.182220] Freezing user space processes ...
[ 135.189483] active wake lock main
[ 135.192230]
[ 135.194854] Freezing of user space aborted
[ 135.194854]
[ 135.201232] Restarting tasks ... done.

Any idea whats happening here?

Thanks!

Alex

This issue was known as 'Linaro Android: bad display timeout on Panda '
https://bugs.launchpad.net/linaro-android/+bug/900800

BTW, I am glad to hear that image can work with Pandaboard ES either, can you share us with some photos for those amazing stuff?
thanks for testing with it and reporting to us. :)

Of course. I only have my cell phone here, so the it isn't the best quality.

Cool!
Had you tested RTC and PWM backlight with your pandaboard ES?

Not yet. I have some other problems even with the non-ES version:
- The browser crashes (it just closes) if I try to open larger pages, e.g. I click on "more" on www.google.com, or visit google places. It starts to load the page but before finishing it the browses is just gone
- The 3d part of 0xBenchmark just quits while running "Flying Teapot":
[ 561.339233] Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 00000000

[ 561.354431] CPU: 0 Not tainted (3.0.3 #1)
...
-Wifi sometimes failes to download the firmware to the wifi module:

I don't know whats going on here, I'm right now trying to compile the latest linaro release on my own...

Btw, is the Brightness slider supposed to work? Its just the same brightness the whole time, no matter what position the slider is set to.

1. Linaro 11.09 Android came with the web browser and BT issues.
Try a latest version may be a good consideration.
2. Linaro 11.09 Android HAL LCD_FILE path was different from the mount point of beada frame backlight driver.
You may need to type something like 'echo 50 > /sys/class/backlight/pwm-beada/brightness' or 'echo 100 > /sys/class/backlight/pwm-beada/brightness',
to manually control the brightness.

Could you please give us an updated version or instructions which driver we have to include and how you do so? I alread compiled the 4.0.3, but without the drivers so far...
