Can someone please explain to me why my FTP login details are not working?!

Could you please tell us more detailed info?
for what you did to logon FTP? e.g. A web browser or a FTP client? What web browser you were using or what FTP client you chosen? and what the issue you met that make you not logon? And then we can guide you go through.

I used firefox with this:

ftp://vanderjas:[mypassword]@72.167.164.146

503 Error

please replace 'vanderjas' by 'beadaguest'
you may already get ftp user name/passwd from forum admin.
