ActiveSync Connection

Post by Econotest » Sun Feb 01, 2009 2:00 am

Thank you for your email regarding ActiveSync.

1. you need install MS ActiveSync 4.1 on your desktop
- I have version 4.5. Do I need to go back to version 4.1?
- I notice you have version 4.1 on the CD but it's Chinese. Do you have an English version?

2. you need install usb driver when you plug in board to your pc
- Do you mean the DNW USB driver? If so, I have already installed this.

1. you do not need to roll back your newer ActiveSync
2. DNW tools are used for bootloader downloading but ActiveSync need another USB driver on your PC side.

Here are steps to install this usb driver:
a). Bring your Wince up on the board
b). Connect the usb calbe between PC and board
c). Windows will tell a new hardware finding message. Follow the steps Windows guiding and locate the usb drivers on CD-ROMs
\windows Tools\USB Driver for CE Sync
d). You can find ActiveSync status changed after usb driver successfully installed.

Thank you for your reply. I now have Activesync working.

However, when I try to deploy my C# application from VS2005 so I can debug it, I get the following error: -

Deployment and/or registration failed with error: 0x8973190e. Error writing file
'%CSIDL_PROGRAM_FILES%\EconotestOmni\EconotestOmni.exe'. Error 0x8007274c:
A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a
period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.

After which the board stops responding to ping and telnet (it looks like TCP/IP has died).

Additionally, I cannot run a command window on the board. I select Start-Programs-Command Prompt and nothing happens (I'd like to be able to see if I can ping in the other direction).

1. Did you successfully connect your VS2005 to wince device through ActiveSync Link before your deployment?
2. Did you use default wince image from CD-ROMs?

I am thinking to post a toturial for how to link VS2008 to the s3c2440 board for MS managed application. But I am afraid I need a little bit time to complete this task. You can try to find some articles on MS site and this may help too.

This is weird!

When I connect directly with the ethernet crossover cable it works. On the ethernet LAN I get errors.

I'd still like to try and solve this. It's not very convenient not being on the LAN or Internet while debugging so ideally I'd like to plug into the LAN for debugging.

it wasn't on the CD for the QQ2440v3, but using the one on the ftp for mini2440 it worked....

Also, I can build and deploy Visual studio (VB) applications just fine... so far its flawless.

Thanks for the info. I'll give it a go.

My problem is connecting to the board on a slow network. It's OK using the ethernet crossover cable, but not when plugged into the hub?

I've decided to put an additional network card in as a work-around.

I'm slightly concerned that FTP and telnet only work at 100Mb/s.
